2026-03-19 AI Can Do Good. Grads Unemployment AI Washing?
Hey all, still experimenting with the weekly one. I’m thinking of releasing it earlier so it wouldn’t be two newsletters in a row from me. Enjoy!
BlackRock CEO Says AI Is Creating a Jobs “Crisis” for New Graduates
BlackRock CEO Larry Fink warned this week that the class of 2026 could face the highest graduate unemployment in years.
Editor’s take: No, people aren’t getting fired. And yes, the graduate unemployment rate tends to be impacted more seriously than that of people with experience. I have analyzed it here:
Essentially, once the economic cycle is out of the valley, the junior hire will return.
A slightly different topic, but also in jobs. The St. Louis Fed’s own Indeed data shows software developer job postings are back above zero year-on-year as of early 2026.
Apple Isn’t a Fan of Vibe-Coded Apps.
Apple has quietly blocked AI “vibe coding” apps like Replit and Vibecode from releasing updates on the App Store unless they make modifications, enforcing existing App Store rules around AI-generated software functionality and safety.

Editor’s take: There’s a reason Apple has those restrictions (same as Google).
So it doesn’t matter whether the rule was set five years or ten years ago, because we are still talking about software. As long as it’s software, it has to go through the same regulations!
Not sure why anyone would think a vibe coding app deserves an exception. 🤷

Editor’s take: They know exactly what shovel to sell to the gold diggers — even when 90% of the time the gold diggers have no idea what problem they’re actually solving.
Ollama and OpenClaw Are Friends Now!
OpenClaw (formerly Clawdbot) is an autonomous AI agent that runs 24/7; its new Ollama integration lets anyone install and run it locally in a single command.

Editor’s take:
My question is still the same: what task do you personally have that requires an agent running 24/7?
